IntCH Diamella Miracle for Rosemont

Finley

Dear BFCSD friends,

This past weekend, July 30th and 31st was quite an adventure for us here in Northern California, at the Dixon Mayfair County fairgrounds!
Rosemont Bichons has a new International Champion awarded by the International All Breed Canine Association (iabca.com), IABCI.
“Finley” is to now be known as “Int CH Diamella Miracle for Rosemont.”  As her owner-importer from Finland, groomer, trainer and handler, I am especially proud of the FIVE V-1 orange cards Finley received from five international judges. The critiques were very meaningful. And the judges were wonderful with their encouragement and their willingness to answer questions.
Having passed with all excellent ratings on Saturday, Finley was then selected Best of Breed from the Open Class at 22 months old. Finley went on to be awarded a Group First over many fine purebred champion dogs. We were most thrilled to be going to the Best In Show ring where Finley showed beautifully up against an excellent line-up of seven Champions, two of which are Nr.1 nationally-ranked AKC Grand Champions. Although Finley continues to improve with every experience in the ring, those more mature, very wonderful breeds were put up with what the judges explained as a tough choice with so many exceptional dogs shown.
The RBIS went to the CH Italiano Logatta, and BIS awarded to the GCH Newfoundland, both ranked AKC Nr.1in the nation.
On Sunday with all individual V-1 points, Finley was again put up as Best of Breed from the Open Class and then was awarded a
well-deserved Group Second. While in the ring, my handling style is to let the highly-trained Bichon show themselves with minimal commands. Finley does this very well on a loose lead with her head held high commanding attention in the ring. While on the table Finley is a still-life statue with a sweet lick if the judge gets close. Occasionally struggling with the high grass, once she got to the correct speed her movement was beautiful. She self stacks and looks directly the judge. All without bait. She’s a rock star!!
Everyone should consider the IABCI shows that are somewhat different in rules, judging and awarding a written critique. The shows are more interactive with the judges there to ask and answer questions, and give you pointers on all aspects of dog showing. It is nice to get to know judges of different nationalities and to see rare breeds that aren’t yet recognized by AKC or are rarely shown at AKC dog shows. As I was encourage by members of the BFCSD, I am now passing along the excitement. Being imported from Finland, it seemed natural for Finley to participate in an International Championship Dog Show, however it is a nice experience for all dogs.
I will continue showing Finley at AKC shows toward her Championship, having earned 5 points already. Yet, I’ll definitely put together a group of friends and go to the International IABCI shows again and again.  Hope to see you there!
With thanks for the Club’s encouragement,
Kindly,
Laura

Congratulations! I love the IABCI shows, too. I wish AKC judges would give critiques.
